Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Families,
It is with great excitement that we begin our 2023 school year! We are really looking forward to working with you to bring faith filled learning in 2023. A new year provides us with the chance to set new goals, to engage in new learnings, to make connections, to participate in school events and widen our understanding of the importance of each person to our school and parish community.
Yesterday we welcomed children from Foundation - Year 6 back to St Brigid’s. It was wonderful to see happy faces enter the school grounds. Excitement filled the air at recess and lunchtime as the children explored the new play spaces. I wish all children a happy and productive year of learning. Very special welcome to our 26 Foundation children. A warm welcome also to the children and their families who have joined other classes in the school.
This year, we welcome the following new staff members to St Brigid’s - Rebecca Conroy (F/1), Nicole Brightly (Year 2/3) and Suzanne Beaver (Pastoral Care). A very warm welcome also to Lisa Grech who will be joining us on Placement as a Learning Support Officer in Term 1. We are excited by the return of Emma Anticaglia. Emma will be sharing a 5/6 class with Ricky Whitcher who will commence in the role as Assistant Principal.
Today is the feast day of our patron saint, St Brigid. Saint Brigid was born around 451 AD in County Louth, Ireland. Brigid was renowned for her generosity and compassion to the poor and the sick, often giving them the food from her own table. Brigid, and some of her friends who also wished to devote their lives to Christ as nuns, chose the Beatitude ‘Blessed are the Merciful’ when they took their vows.
Brigid built a convent settlement and continued her work from that base, travelling about the district caring for the poor and converting many to the Church. She is renowned for her leadership and faithfulness to the Church.
Facts about St Brigid:
