Principal's Message

This week marks ten years since St Mary of the Cross MacKillop was declared a saint.

Founder of the Sisters of St Joseph, she was canonised on October 17, 2010 at Saint Peter’s Basilica, Rome. Pope Benedict XVI proclaimed Mary’s sainthood during a Canonisation Mass, in the presence of many thousands of people.

To mark the tenth anniversary of her canonization, the Sisters of St Joseph have produced a prayer booklet and accompanying vignettes to honour the occasion.

Ever-present God, you gifted us with Mary MacKillop

whose life inspires us never to lose hope.

Build our confidence in your strengthening presence

especially in the darkest moments of our lives.

Be present with hope for those suffering trauma,

injustice, illness and despair at this time in our world.

We ask this through Christ accompanying us.

Amen

Dear Parents and Friends,

The smiles on the faces of the children I greet each morning certainly warms each of our hearts and is a very clear and visible sign that the students are certainly very happy to be back with their teachers and friends at school on a daily basis.  All members of our community are to be applauded and commended for the manner in which everyone is working hard to re-adjust to the routines and expectations of life back at school. We have noticed that a number of students are still struggling to maintain complete focus for the whole school day. However, we are confident they will all be very soon back into the ‘complete swing’ of things.

Hopefully everyone who has been past the school recently will notice something missing! That’s right our sports shed has gone! All of the sports equipment has been moved to what is known as the ‘green shed’ located on the boundary near Mill Rose cottage. My sincere thanks to all of the staff for preparing for this move by transferring all of the sports equipment to its new home.  In particular I would like to acknowledge Crossroads Trading who assisted with removal of unwanted items, and Therese Winter and Lucinda Kennedy who did a power of work towards the end of last term and during our recent holidays, in clearing out the incredible collection of items from the shed in preparation for the move. An awesome job done - thank you!  They are definitely two people you need around when cleaning up anything.

Take care, Gabe.
