Change of Details
Dear Parents and Families,
As Christmas draws closer, we keep in mind those in our community who will find this season challenging. Our school community supports others at this time of year through a number of initiatives. At present we have a Giving Tree and the mounting pile of gifts is testament to the kindness and generosity of you all. An initiative such as this is particularly important in the life of a Catholic school. Our commitment to social justice issues is one of the touchstones of our Catholic identity and how we make our faith real, alive and meaningful. If you have not yet made a donation to the giving tree there is still time to do so.
The season of Advent continues through the four Sundays of Advent and ends at Christmas Eve. During each Sunday of the Advent season, we focus on one of the four virtues Jesus brings us: Hope, Love, Joy and Peace.
As this school year comes to an end, I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank you all. Thank you to our wonderful children who have demonstrated perseverance and resilience throughout this year. Thank you to our families for your ongoing support of your children and our school. Thank you to our amazing staff who continue to make a huge difference to the lives of our children. Thank you for providing rich and engaging, well-rounded experiences for our children and knowing that education is about wonder and fostering curiosity, along with development of social skills so needed to maintain connections.
In closing, I wish you all a very happy, safe and enjoyable Christmas break.
I look forward to seeing you all next year on Tuesday 1st February 2022 where we will welcome 15 new children and 10 new families to St Brigid's.
Have a great week.
Take care and God Bless,
Jayne Bosworthh

Excerpt from St Brigid's Prayer
Earlier this semester, Gabe announced her retirement as Principal of St Brigid’s at the conclusion of the 2021 school year. Gabe has worked in Catholic Education for forty years in a range of educational communities, fulfilling various roles including teacher, education adviser and principal. Gabe joined the St Brigid’s team as Principal in 2015. Throughout her time at St Brigid’s, Gabe thoroughly enjoyed working with young people and their families in a vocation that she felt both honoured and privileged to have been a part of.
Gabe prided herself on making decisions and actions within school communities that always maintained a focus on what was best for the learning needs of the children at St Brigid’s. The work at St Brigid’s as a professional learning community is certainly reflective of this.
Throughout the last month, as a school community we have been reflecting on Gabe’s time as Principal at St Brigid’s. The following comments are a snapshot of the testaments to Gabe from our school community:
‘Thank you for helping set up the playground Miss Driscoll.’
‘Thank you for always being there for me and making the school such a comforting place.’
‘Thanks for all of your guidance and support over the years.’
‘Thank you Miss Driscoll for welcoming us to St Brigid’s.’
‘Hi Miss Driscoll, thank you for our playground. It is really fun to play on.’
‘Thank you for welcoming our family to St Brigid’s school and community… we wish you all the best for your retirement.’
‘Hi Miss Driscoll, we miss you. Thank you for helping us and supporting us and supporting our school.’
‘Wishing you well in your retirement and thank you for your hard work and dedication here at St Brigid’s.’
“Hi Miss Driscoll, thank you for organising our school and good luck with the next chapter of your life.’
This week we will present Gabe with a farewell video containing heartfelt messages from our community, a gift and a beautiful collage of ‘hearts’ made by our wonderful children. We sincerely thank Gabe for her time as Principal at St Brigid’s and wish her the very best for her future endeavours.
Congratulations to our Year 5 students who undertook their leadership speeches last Friday. Each child did a fabulous job and it was so impressive to see each student speak in such a passionate way about their desire to be a school captain. We are very excited to announce that the following children have been selected school captains for 2022 and wish them all the best in this role.
Tahni Muscat, Angus Tranter
April Yearwood, Jake Plageman
Teachers have been working towards preparing student reports for Semester 2. Again this year, as a result of the significant period of remote learning, there are changes to the requirements of schools in the way these reports are provided. The Catholic Education Commission of Victoria Ltd (CECV) has worked with the other sectors in Victoria to develop a consistent approach to the reporting of student achievement and progress. The reporting requirements reflect the approved reporting exemptions provided by the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority. This Semester, teachers will be providing an overview of what has been covered in key learning areas. They will also provide an indication of the progress made by each student in these areas, accompanied by a general comment reflecting each individual student's learning journey through Semester 2.
Reports are available online in PAM today.
On Thursday 16th December, all children are invited to wear casual clothes with a Christmas theme. On this day, one hot dog in a roll will be provided for lunch. Please provide lunch for your children if they don’t eat hot dogs. Same process as usual - children put their paper bag containing their details into the lunch order box. No money needs to be included.
A reminder that school will finish at 3pm on Thursday 16th December, 2021.
On Wednesday 16th December, classes from Foundation – Year 6 will gather together on the oval for our end of year Liturgy at 9am. This will be a great opportunity for children and staff to reflect upon the year that has been.
Last Thursday our Graduation Liturgy and dinner took place. This was a wonderful opportunity to we acknowledge and celebrate our Year 6 children. From Foundation students in 2015 to graduates in 2021, we can’t quite believe how quickly their primary school years have passed. We are very proud of our Year 6 cohort; we thank them for their contributions to St Brigid’s School and wish them all the very best as they transition to secondary school. To our departing families - we thank you for your time and contributions to our school and wish you every success for the future.
Best wishes to the following Year 6 children:
Brayden McFall, Chelsea Buttigieg, Clover McIlwaine, Cooper Smith, Dee McGregor, Harper Duncan, Honey Blake, Jackson Letcher, Kristiana Ozimek, Logan Monterosso, Neve Eskdale, Nicholas Primerano, Peyton Weir, Rose Turnball, Sophie Sims.
We must also say farewell to a number of families who will be leaving our school in a few days. Each has been a part of the life of our school community for a range of years and each has bought their own gifts and contributions to our school.
We farewell and thank the following families:
Blake Family, Duncan/Leonard Family, McIlwaine Family, McGregor Family, Primerano Family, Smith Family, Turnbull Family, Weir Family.
