Newsletter May 24th, 2022
Dear Members of our St Brigid’s Community,
This week we celebrate Catholic Education Week with the theme, ‘Share the Good News!’
“Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation.” – Mark 16:15
Our communities are beautiful places that can and do enrich the mystery of Christ’s identity and enable his way to be continually raised up in and by community. “Go into the world and proclaim the good news to the whole of creation,” is an urgent
invitation to our community to comprehend the meaning of Jesus’ life to grasp what this looks like in following and enacting God’s dream for the world. We pray that our communities inspire from within to be people of peace, hope and love in these times of displacement, anxiety and concern for Earth as our common home: to realise each unique connection in proclaiming who Jesus is and what it means to follow in the light of the gospel for these times. Catholic Education Week is an opportunity to celebrate and enhance the reality of this identity, to dialogue with the Catholic faith tradition and the world in which we live to interpret and proclaim the good news.
Yesterday we celebrated our Catholic Education Week Mass and we reflected upon three key questions –
- What is the ‘Good News’?
- What does it look like?
- How are we as a school community People of the Good News?
We will continue to unpack these questions throughout this week.
Have a wonderful week.
Take care and God Bless,
Jayne Bosworth

Excerpt from St Brigid's Prayer
All students should now be wearing winter uniform. Please ensure that your child is wearing the correct winter uniform. Children are able to wear sports uniform each Wednesday and on classroom nominated sports day as directed by your child’s classroom teacher.
We appreciate any donations of the St Brigid's school uniform to our secondhand supply. Please ensure that donations are in very good condition, do not have stains, tears or rips and are in acceptable condition for future wear.
We are looking to commence classroom helper training this term in preparation for commencement of our Classroom Helper program. A reminder that all volunteers conducting any work on a school site, require a valid ‘Working with Children’s Check’ and evidence of three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine unless a medical exemption applies. If you are interested in participating in the training please contact the office.
CAMPS, SPORTS & EXCURSIONS
FUND (CSEF)
School camps provide children with inspiring experiences in the great outdoors. Excursions encourage a deeper understanding of how the world works while sports teach teamwork, discipline and leadership. All are a part of a healthy curriculum.
CSEF is provided by the Victorian Government to assist eligible families to cover the costs of school trips, camps and sporting activities.
If you hold a valid means-tested concession card or are a temporary foster parent, you may be eligible for CSEF. A special consideration category also exists for asylum seeker and refugee families. The allowance is paid to the school to use towards expenses relating to camps, excursions or sporting activities for the benefit of your child.
The annual CSEF amount per student is:
- $125 for primary school students
- $225 for secondary school students
HOW TO APPLY
New applicants should contact the school office to obtain a CSEF application form or download from below.
If you applied for CSEF at your child's school last year, you do not need to complete an application form this year unless there has been a change in your family circumstances.
You only need to complete an application form if any of the following changes have occurred:
- new student enrolments; your child has started or changed schools this year.
- changed family circumstances; such as a change of custody, change of name, concession card number, or new siblings commencing this year.
Check with the school office if you are unsure.
