Last week the Catholic Church celebrated the Feast of the Assumption - a special day to honour Mary, the mother of Jesus. This feast day commemorates that Mary, the mother of God, was assumed body and soul into heaven and reunited with her son Jesus.
Empowering God,
Inspire us by the example of Mary’s openness to your Love.
May we live in this attitude and bring to birth a new world!
We make our prayer through Jesus Christ in the unity of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Dear Members of our St Brigid’s Community,
As we commence Week 7, it is important to reflect upon the successes and celebrations of this term while planning for future events.
Next Thursday afternoon, we look forward to welcoming our dad’s and special people to our ‘Father’s and Special Person’s Pie Night’ to celebrate Father’s Day. This will be a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our dad’s and special people in our lives. Our afternoon of fun will include games outside (weather permitting), dinner and sharing of a special prayer to conclude our evening. Just a reminder to please return all pie slips to school by this Thursday, 25th August.
Our Arts Show is fast approaching and will focus on celebrating creativity, effort and exploration. It will be an event for all to come and enjoy many pieces of artwork created by the Children and will take place on Wednesday 8th September. Further information about our Art Show will be circulated this week!
Have a wonderful week and I look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events!
Take care and God bless,
Jayne Bosworth

'Inspire us to act justly and to reverence all God has made.' Excerpt from St Brigid's Prayer
Please keep Trish Lannen in your prayers and thoughts following the recent passing of Trish's father, Terry.
We extend our deepest sympathy to Trish and her family during this very difficult time.
2022 CBCA Book Week is being celebrated from Monday 22nd August to Friday 26th August. This year's theme is 'Dreaming with Open Eyes'. Our students are encouraged to dress up as their favourite book character and participant in our parade 9am on Friday 22th August. Parents are welcome to attend. We are excited to celebrate our children’s love of reading and imagination with 2022 CBCA Book Week!
St Brigid's Parents and Friends are organising our Pie Drive fundraiser. Please return order form and money to the office by this Thursday the 25th August, 2022. Thank you to the Parents and Friends for arranging. If you need an order form, please contact the office.
Over the last few weeks we have had a number of outbreaks of nits and lice across the school. We all know that such discoveries can means a somewhat frustrating and tedious process in order to ensure complete elimination. It is important that we all share responsibility for this problem and so we all need to undertake regular checks of children’s hair.
Learners at St Brigid's show bravery, collaboration, curiosity, perseverance and resilience.
We have high expectations for all learners and believe that all our children can learn, improve and succeed. We want our learners to know how to take charge of their own learning and to ‘know what to do when they don’t know what to do’. To support this we have identified five learning dispositions which are explicitly taught at Saint Brigid's.
We encourage all our families to continue to partner with us in developing our children to be brave, collaborative, curious, perseverant and resilient learners.
Hot lunches will take place this week! Lunch orders are due in no later than Wednesday afternoon and are to be placed in the blue lunch tin in the main school foyer.
Please write your child’s name, class and lunch items on a brown paper bag, and enclose money. Any change will be taped to the paper bags. Please remember, two bags are required if having a dessert item as well.
** Please note that hot lunches will not take place in week 10 - Friday 16th September (last day of Term).
Volunteers
This term we will re-introduce a roster to help prepare and serve lunches on each Friday. If you are available to help out on a Friday between 11.30am-1.00pm please contact the school office (valid Working With Children Check is required).
The children really enjoy hot lunches and this can only happen with the help of volunteers!
All of the timetabled events (to date) for the school year can be found on our school calendar which can be accessed through PAM and via this newsletter.

All students should now be wearing winter uniform. Please ensure that your child is wearing the correct winter uniform, as per the letter sent to families last term. Children are able to wear sports uniform each Wednesday and on classroom nominated sports day as directed by your child’s classroom teacher.
We appreciate any donations of the St Brigid's school uniform to our secondhand supply. Please ensure that donations are in very good condition, do not have stains, tears or rips and are in acceptable condition for future wear.
